The EPA recommends testing for Radon Gas
-Every 2 years
-After installing a mitigation system
-During alternate seasons
-If moving to a lower floor of your home
-After major renovations-When buying a new home
For the most accurate test results, the testing area will need to be sealed off for 12 hours prior to the test. Normal living conditions may resume with a few conditions. If the door was opened, it must be closed immediately. Windows cannot be opened during the 12-hour stabilization period or during the test period. The HVAC system must remain on and set at a temperature comfortable to the occupants. If the home is unoccupied, the HVAC should be on and set to 68-72 degrees.
If a 12-hour stabilization period is successful, the Radon Gas measuring may begin. A measuring device about the size of a 12oz soda can will be placed on a shelf or tripod 4-6' off of the floor. It cannot be placed near areas of air movement and not near the exterior wall. We will try and keep it out of your way. Sensitive to tampering and movement, the device must remain in place for the entire portion of the test. Tampering and movement of the device will be registered and void the test.
Once the 48-hour testing process is complete, the measuring device will be collected by Snake River Radon. The data will be analyzed, and the customer will be provided with a comprehensive report with necessary mitigation recommendations.
A Radon test is not a pre-requisite for a mitigation system install.
If the customer requests to move forward with a mitigation system, the testing fee will be credited and applied to the mitigation system installation.
There are many testing options on the market, even free tests offered by the EPA. We encourage you to take advantage of these options and call us if you don't like the results! Let's get a customized system installed as soon as possible. Radon Gas is dangerous, and levels need to be reduced immediately!
